The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Hon. Thompson Osagie, has declared that he has not endorsed and does not intend to endorse any candidate vying for elective positions under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the forthcoming party primaries. The clarification was made in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Dennis Ugbudian, who noted that the attention of the general public was drawn to the need to set the record straight on the matter.

Dennis Ugbudian further stated that for the avoidance of doubt, the Chairman remains committed to upholding the principles of fairness, neutrality, and internal democracy. Hon. Osagie therefore encourages all aspirants to take their campaigns to the grassroots, engaging party members with their ideas, capacity, and vision in a peaceful and dignified manner, in order to secure the mandate to fly the party’s flag.

The statement also quoted the Chairman as strongly cautioning against the misuse of his name or that of the Local Government Council in any form of false endorsement or political propaganda. Hon. Osagie noted that the Council holds all aspirants in high regard and will not be drawn into acts that suggest bias, favouritism, or undue advantage. Dennis Ugbudian added that in line with the directive of the State Party leadership granting all aspirants a level playing field to test their popularity, the Orhionmwon Local Government Council fully aligns with this position and reiterates its commitment to a free, fair, and credible process.

The Chairman extended his best wishes to all aspirants and urged them to conduct themselves in accordance with the highest standards of political decorum and sportsmanship throughout the exercise.
