ADC Expels Abejide, Nafiu Bala, Others as Kachikwu Escapes Sanctions
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled several prominent members, including a serving lawmaker, following decisions taken at its ongoing national convention in Abuja.
Among those affected is Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State. Also expelled is Nafiu Bala Gombe, described by the party as a self-acclaimed factional national chairman and a former deputy national chairman.
Other party members shown the exit door include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu, all accused of actions considered detrimental to the unity and stability of the party.
However, former presidential candidate of the party, Dumebi Kachikwu, was spared, with no official explanation given for his exclusion from the disciplinary action.
The expulsions were ratified at the convention presided over by former Senate President David Mark. The decision followed a motion moved by Binos Yaroe, who represents Adamawa South Senatorial District. The motion was subsequently adopted unanimously by delegates.
Party insiders say the disciplinary measures are part of efforts to address internal divisions and restore cohesion within the ADC, which has faced prolonged leadership disputes and factional crises in recent times.
