Sowore Alleges DSS Planted Tracking Device on His Vehicle in Port Harcourt

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has raised fresh allegations of surveillance against the Department of State Services, claiming a tracker was discovered on his vehicle during a recent visit to Port Harcourt.

The activist shared the allegations through his official channels, stating that the device was found attached to his car while he was in the Rivers State capital.

Sowore described the discovery as a violation of his privacy and a continuation of what he termed persistent harassment by security agencies.

According to the activist, the device was discovered during a routine check, prompting concerns over the extent of monitoring directed at him.

Sowore expressed his intention to pursue legal action, characterising the act as intimidation and an overreach of state authority.

The development has sparked criticism from civil society groups, with some arguing that the use of tracking technology against political figures undermines fundamental rights.

As of the latest reports, neither the Department of State Services nor the Rivers State Police Command has issued an official response to the allegations.

The activist has demanded a public inquiry and called for security reforms to prevent what he describes as extrajudicial surveillance.
