Presidency Confirms Appointment of Prof. Segun Aina as JAMB Registrar
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in a major leadership change at Nigeria’s tertiary admissions body.
The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Professor Aina will take over from the current Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second and final tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.
According to official reports, Aina is a Computer Engineering scholar at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and is widely regarded for his expertise in digital systems, examination technology, and institutional reform in education administration. He is also noted to be among Nigeria’s youngest professors in his field.
The development is being described as part of ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s education sector, particularly in strengthening examination integrity and digital transformation within JAMB.
Aina is expected to assume office immediately after Oloyede completes his tenure in 2026.
