Severe Storm Forces Ed Sheeran to Cancel Two Gillette Stadium Concerts

Ed Sheeran has been forced to cancel two upcoming concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, due to severe weather warnings across the New England region.

The shows were scheduled for Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, as part of Sheeran’s Loop Tour.

The cancellation comes as a powerful nor’easter storm approaches the East Coast, with forecasts predicting heavy rain and wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour.

In a statement, Messina Touring announced the difficult decision: “Due to the severe weather warnings in place in Boston and across New England throughout the weekend and following consultation with local officials, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Ed Sheeran concerts at Gillette Stadium”.

“The decision was made with the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved in the shows as the top priority,” the promoter added.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase, and ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.

The area is under a wind advisory until Sunday morning, with officials preparing for potential power outages and flight cancellations.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey urged residents to take caution, stating: “We’re keeping a close eye on the forecast and coordinating with local and federal public safety partners. Be ready for possible flooding and power outages”.

The cancellation adds to a turbulent period for Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Earlier this month, rapper Macklemore was removed as a supporting act following pro-Palestinian comments he made on stage during shows in New Jersey.

The decision came after pressure from venue owners, including Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft, who stated that Macklemore’s participation would “cross that line” due to what he described as “a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric”.

Following Macklemore’s removal, several other opening acts including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga withdrew from the tour in solidarity.

At his first show without the supporting acts on September 19 in Philadelphia, Sheeran addressed the controversy, telling the crowd: “I’m used to my music being criticised, and I’m always happy to take that… But this week the criticism was about something much more important, and I’ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes, and I’m so, so sorry”.

The Gillette Stadium dates were set to be Sheeran’s second and third shows since losing his supporting acts.

The Loop Tour began in January 2026 in Auckland, New Zealand, and is scheduled to conclude in Mexico City in early December 2026.
