DALORI TAKES OVER AS APC ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, WARNS AGAINST DIVISION

Ali Bukar Dalori has assumed office as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on party members to strengthen their internal processes, reconnect with their grassroots, and re-energize the party’s structures across all levels to pave the way for success in the 2027 elections. In his first meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori emphasized the importance of unity and cautioned against actions that could breed disunity. “We must avoid actions and words that divide us and focus on what binds us — our shared belief in the promise of Nigeria and the future of the APC,” Dalori stated. Dalori paid tribute to his predecessor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned as APC National Chairman due to health grounds. “Since his assumption of office in August 2023, he provided the APC with experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction,” Dalori said, expressing gratitude to Ganduje for his service. The new Acting National Chairman emphasized that his appointment was not a personal victory but a responsibility to serve the party. “My appointment to this role is not a personal victory. It is a responsibility I embrace with full awareness of the challenges ahead and the expectations of millions of our members and supporters across the nation,” Dalori said. Dalori pledged to work with the APC Constitution, Code of Conduct, and operational guidelines, assuring party members of his dedication to carrying out his role with transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose. “To all party members and stakeholders, I urge us to stay united. Political transitions often create uncertainty, but we must not allow it to breed disunity,” he added. The APC Acting National Chairman reaffirmed the party’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a living roadmap addressing fundamental challenges in Nigeria’s economy, security, and national cohesion. “The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation, and we will stand by the President in full loyalty and partnership,” Dalori stated.

SDP SUSPENDS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, TWO OTHERS OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL MISCONDUCT

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended its National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, along with two members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Nnadi Clarkson, National Auditor, and Chukwuma Uchechukwu, National Youth Leader, over allegations of gross financial misconduct, embezzlement, misappropriation, and diversion of party funds. The suspension was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, in a statement on Tuesday. According to Aiyenigba, the decision followed a resolution of a meeting of the NWC, where overwhelming evidence was presented linking the suspended officials to a series of unauthorized financial transactions, personal enrichment schemes, and movement of funds from the party’s accounts without necessary approvals of the NWC. “The national working committee of the Social Democratic Party has approved the immediate suspension of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the national chairman, along with Nze Nnadi Clarkson and Uchechukwu Chukwuma, over grave allegations of gross financial misconduct, embezzlement, misappropriation and diversion of party funds,” the statement read. The party emphasized that the suspension is to allow for a thorough investigation and to uphold its integrity as a political party. “Our integrity as a political party must be upheld at all times,” Aiyenigba said. An interim investigative panel has been constituted to audit all financial records and recommend further disciplinary or legal actions. Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar, Deputy National Chairman (North), has been directed to assume leadership of the party pending the outcome of the investigations. The suspension has been communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and all relevant anti-graft and security agencies have been formally notified.
