NIGERIA POLICE FORCE SECURES EXTRADITION OF “KILLABOI” FOR MURDER OF 21-YEAR-OLD STUDENT
The Nigeria Police Force has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, alias “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria. In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the suspect had been on the run for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan. Adejobi said investigations revealed that the suspect murdered the victim at his residence in Lagos on July 13, 2023, and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act in a bid to derail investigative efforts. Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension. The suspect was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, but escaped custody during a prison break. He was later tracked to Doha, Qatar, where he was arrested by Qatari authorities in February 2025. Adejobi said the extradition was made possible through robust international cooperation and advanced biometrics. Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and extended appreciation to the Honorable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their collaboration in securing the fugitive’s return. Adejobi quoted Egbetokun as saying, “The Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring that the suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of the NPF’s dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.”
