Super Falcons Retain Top Spot in Africa’s FIFA Rankings for 2024.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have retained their position as Africa’s highest-ranked female national team in FIFA’s final 2024 rankings. Despite remaining 36th globally, the nine-time African champions maintained their dominance over South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana, ranked 53rd, 61st, 62nd, and 66th, respectively. The Falcons’ performances in 2024, including victories over Algeria and a narrow loss to France, failed to boost their global ranking, a far cry from their all-time best of 23rd in 2004 and 2005. Following a disappointing campaign at the Paris Olympics, the team remains Africa’s strongest force in women’s football. Other African teams in the global top 10 include Cameroon (68th) and Ivory Coast (71st). The Falcons are now setting sights on improving their global ranking in 2025 with preparations for major tournaments underway.
