President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on her birthday, praising her contributions to public service, journalism and Nigeria’s diaspora engagement.

The President described Dabiri-Erewa as a dedicated public servant and committed member of his political party, noting her longstanding commitment to national development and the welfare of Nigerians.

In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Tinubu highlighted Dabiri-Erewa’s career, which began in broadcasting with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), before she ventured into politics and public administration.

Dabiri-Erewa represented Ikorodu Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2015, where she chaired the House Committee on Media and Publicity and later headed the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs.

Tinubu commended her commitment to social justice and her efforts to promote the interests of Nigerians both at home and abroad.

He also praised her work in encouraging Nigerians living overseas to contribute their expertise and resources to the country’s development, particularly in education, healthcare and sports.

“Abike has demonstrated love for the country and humanity over many years by consistently placing the welfare and well-being of the underprivileged at the centre of her work,” the President said.

Tinubu further acknowledged the passion, diligence and foresight she had brought to her various roles as a journalist, lawmaker and head of NiDCOM, describing her efforts to attract diaspora talent to Nigeria as commendable.
