TROOPS CLEAR TERRORIST CAMPS, REPEL ATTACKS IN SUSTAINED NORTH EAST OFFENSIVE (VIDEO)

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed multiple terrorist camps and repelled coordinated insurgent attacks during ongoing operations in the Timbuktu Triangle. The Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, detailed the successes in a statement on Sunday, 18 January 2026.

Uba stated that following an advance from their harbour area, troops conducted deliberate, intelligence-led operations across terrorist enclaves including Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma. The Air Component provided persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance coverage, enabling real-time tracking of terrorist movement and enhancing the precision of ground offensives. Significant items were recovered, including Baofeng radios, phones, AK-47 magazines, various ammunition calibers, terrorist flags, grinding machines, medical supplies, grains, a pick-up truck, and an underground logistics storage with a Petroleum and Oil Lubricant dump.

The advancing troops came under armed drone attacks around midday and again in the evening, but maintained their momentum. Uba confirmed that both attacks were decisively repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw and reaffirming troops’ dominance. Despite sustained engagements, troop morale remains high and fighting efficiency is maintained. The security situation is assessed as calm but unpredictable, with troops remaining vigilant. Sani Uba further affirmed that the Military High Command remains resolute, stating operations will continue to eliminate terrorist threats, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability to the North East.
