The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has described the tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, as evidence of transformational leadership. NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, in a congratulatory letter, said Adeniyi has deepened and institutionalized professionalism in public service.

Director, Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo, in a statement, quoted Dr. Neliaku as saying, “What we see today in Customs is a turnaround and progressive shift from the past anchored on passion to serve and add value, with utmost sense of commitment to national development.” Ogadigo further quoted Neliaku as attributing the CGC’s achievements to practical application of Public Relations strategies.

Neliaku expressed confidence that the next one year in office will be an opportunity for Adeniyi to consolidate on his plethora of achievements, not only for Nigeria’s Customs but also for the global customs in his capacity as Chairperson of World Customs Organisation (WCO). Adeniyi’s initiatives have made a significant impact across the global customs ecosystem, and his leadership has yielded positive outcomes.

The NIPR President highlighted some of Adeniyi’s notable achievements, including improved interactions between passengers and Customs officials at the nation’s airports, deployment of indigenous technology system to enhance operational efficiency, and effective stakeholders engagement.
