Kwararafa Peoples To Present Development Agenda To Tinubu In Abuja

The Kwararafa Development Forum is to present a development agenda to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government at a major gathering of Kwararafa stakeholders in Abuja on Saturday.

The agenda is expected to set out the development priorities of communities associated with the historic Kwararafa Confederacy and seek greater government attention to issues of security, economic development, national unity and representation.

More than 2,500 delegates and about 250 traditional rulers are expected at the Kwararafa Peoples Assembly holding at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. Governors, lawmakers, senior security officials, diplomats, business leaders and representatives of the Kwararafa diaspora are also expected to attend.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Alhaji Ahmadu Oga Aliyu Onawo, the Andoma of Doma, said the assembly would provide a platform for the participating groups to develop a common position on issues affecting their communities and present it to the Federal Government.

He said the meeting would culminate in the adoption of an Abuja Declaration, which would contain resolutions on national unity, security, economic development and equitable representation.

According to Onawo, the gathering is expected to bring together representatives of the Jukun, Idoma, Igala, Nupe, Ebira, Alago, Eggon, Gomai, Tarok and Kuteb, among other groups linked to the Kwararafa heritage.

The Governor of Taraba State is the convener of the assembly, while the Aku Uka of Wukari is the Chief Host. President Tinubu has been invited as the Distinguished Guest of Honour.

The assembly, themed “The Splendour of the Kingdom: The Ancient Truths, The New Dawn,” will also feature the unveiling of the Kwararafa Handbook and the premiere of The Golden Thread: The Living Legacy of Kwararafa, a documentary on the history of the confederacy.
