GOV. DIRI VOWS JUSTICE AS BAYELSA YOUTH KILLED AFTER ONLINE DISPUTE

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has ordered the police and the Attorney General’s office to fast-track investigation and prosecution following the death of 24-year-old Patrick Peresuodei.

Peresuodei, an indigene of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, reportedly died after an assault linked to an online dispute with a man identified as Bodmas Kemepadei.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation across the state.Speaking at Wednesday’s State Executive Council meeting in Yenagoa, Governor Diri said the government acted immediately after the incident and insisted that justice must be served.

He directed relevant authorities to take over the case, describing it as a murder that must be thoroughly investigated.“Patrick Peresuodei’s death is a serious matter.

I have instructed the Commissioner for Justice to take charge of the case. The investigation must be diligent and expedited so all those responsible face the law,” Diri said.

The governor called on residents, especially youths, to cooperate with the authorities by providing information that could aid the investigation.

He also assured the victim’s family7 that the state government would support them throughout the process.

Diri used the occasion to extend condolences to the families affected by a road accident last Friday while travelling for the burial of the late Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

The accident reportedly claimed two lives and left several others injured.He praised the families of the deceased for their patriotism and commended the Ewhrudjakpo family and the Ofoni community for their cooperation during the burial.

A delegation from the family and community, led by Dr. Oyowvin Osusu, visited the governor to express appreciation for the government’s support.
