The Plateau State Government has restated its ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okada, within areas covered by the Jos Greater Master Plan.

In a public notice issued by the Commissioner for Transport, Davou Gyang Jatau, the government emphasized that the restriction remains fully in effect and is being strictly enforced across the affected areas.

According to the statement, enforcement agencies, including security operatives and mobile courts, have been mandated to intensify surveillance, arrest violators, and ensure compliance with the directive.

Residents were also urged to stay alert and report any suspicious motorcycle activities within restricted zones to the appropriate authorities for immediate action.

The government further clarified that tricycle operators, popularly known as Keke, are permitted to operate only between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. within Jos and Bukuru metropolis.

Reaffirming its stance, the state government noted that the directive is part of broader efforts to enhance public safety, maintain order, and improve transportation management across Plateau State.
