Gunmen Abduct Newborn from Teen Mother in Nasarawa Community
Tension has gripped residents of Nasarawa State following the abduction of a newborn baby by suspected kidnappers in Karu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred in Kidnawi 2, Maraban Gurku, a community located about 18 kilometres from the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The baby’s mother, identified as Aisha, 19, narrated that the attackers struck late Saturday night while she was asleep with her child.
“I was asleep when I heard a loud knock. Before I could respond, two men forced their way in. One held me by the neck and covered my mouth while the other grabbed my baby and ran away,” she recounted.
Aisha said she struggled to call for help during the attack but could not raise an alarm in time, noting that her husband was away in Lagos at the time of the incident.
The community leader, Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo, confirmed the development and said the matter had been reported to the police.
Residents, however, said they only became aware of the incident after the attackers had fled, making it difficult to immediately pursue them.
Local search efforts have so far yielded no results, while security operatives are yet to make a breakthrough in tracking the suspects.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Rahman Nansel, said he had not been officially briefed on the case and urged confirmation on whether it had been formally reported.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public to provide any useful information that could assist in rescuing the abducted newborn and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
