Osun Police Raid Hideout, Arrest Four Suspects Over N5m Mobile Phone Shop Burglary in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the burglary of a mobile phone shop in the Oja-Oba area of Osogbo, where handsets valued at approximately N5 million were reportedly stolen.

The suspects were identified as Afeez Arole, 30; Salami Wahab Idowu, 49; Akanmu Afeez, 37; and Adebisi Taofeek, 47.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura, the incident was reported on September 1, 2026, at about 10 p.m.

The complainant told police that his shop at Oja-Oba had been burgled by suspected hoodlums who stole different types of mobile phones valued at approximately N5 million.

Police said operatives immediately commenced efforts to track down those suspected to be involved in the burglary and theft.

The breakthrough came on September 22, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., when credible information was received that suspected hoodlums had been sighted within the Oja-Oba area of Osogbo.

“Following intelligence-led surveillance and investigation, Police operatives raided the suspected hideout of the alleged perpetrators, leading to the arrest of four suspects mentioned above,” the statement said.

Two Itel mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the operation. The complainant subsequently identified the recovered handsets as part of the mobile phones allegedly stolen from his shop.

The four suspects have reportedly made statements to the police in connection with the alleged offence, while investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the level of involvement of each suspect.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura has directed the investigating team to intensify efforts to identify other members of the suspected criminal network and recover more of the stolen items.

The Command urged residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police through appropriate channels, assuring that it remains committed to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing strategies.
