Alexander Brothers Sentenced to 30 Years Each for Sex Trafficking
Three brothers from a prominent American real estate family have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison following their convictions in a federal sex trafficking and sexual abuse case involving dozens of women and girls.
Alon and Oren Alexander, 39-year-old twins, and their older brother, Tal Alexander, 40, were sentenced on Tuesday, October 27, by US District Judge Valerie Caproni in Manhattan, New York, seven months after a jury found them guilty of multiple federal sex offences, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
Prosecutors said the brothers exploited their wealth, social connections and access to luxury events and travel to lure women to private gatherings, where they allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted them. The alleged offences spanned more than a decade, with prosecutors saying the brothers used social media, dating applications, personal encounters and party promoters to reach potential victims.
Oren and Tal Alexander were prominent figures in the luxury property market, having worked in high-end real estate, while Alon was associated with his family’s private security business. Prosecutors argued that the brothers used their social standing and resources to facilitate the abuse.
At least 70 women were identified by prosecutors as having reported sexual assault by one or more of the brothers. During the sentencing hearing, several women addressed the court about the lasting psychological effects of the assaults. Some described persistent trauma, fear and difficulties trusting others.
Judge Caproni condemned the brothers’ conduct as “monstrous”, according to reports by the Associated Press, and questioned their claims that they had changed their behaviour. Prosecutors had sought life imprisonment, while defence lawyers argued for the minimum 15-year terms and maintained that the brothers were innocent.
The brothers addressed the court before sentencing and continued to deny drugging or raping anyone. Their lawyers have indicated that they intend to appeal the convictions.
In addition to their prison sentences, each brother received 10 years of supervised release. Reports also said Alon and Oren were ordered to pay fines of $300,000 each, while Tal was ordered to pay $350,000, with additional restitution to be determined. Oren was also ordered to pay an additional $50,000 in connection with a separate conviction involving sexual exploitation of a minor.
The case has drawn widespread attention because of the brothers’ former prominence in the luxury property industry and the number of women who came forward. US prosecutors said the sentences reflected the seriousness of the offences and credited the victims who reported the abuse and testified during the proceedings.
The brothers’ convictions and sentences mark a major development in a case that began with their arrests in December 2024. Their planned appeals mean further legal proceedings may follow.
