Top diplomats from the European Union arrived in Ukraine on Monday to commemorate the anniversary of the Bucha massacre, a grim symbol of alleged war crimes during Russia’s invasion.

The delegation, which includes foreign ministers from several EU member states, visited the town of Bucha, located just outside Kyiv, where hundreds of civilians were killed in the early weeks of the war in 2022. The visit is part of ongoing efforts by European leaders to show solidarity with Ukraine and reaffirm their support against Russian aggression.

During the ceremony, officials laid wreaths and observed a moment of silence for the victims. Ukrainian authorities used the occasion to call again for accountability, insisting that those responsible for the atrocities be brought to justice through international courts.

EU representatives reiterated their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, pledging continued military, financial, and humanitarian assistance. The bloc also emphasized the importance of documenting evidence of alleged war crimes for future prosecutions.

The Bucha massacre has remained one of the most widely cited incidents in the war, drawing global condemnation and intensifying sanctions against Russia. Moscow, however, has consistently denied responsibility, calling the allegations staged.

The visit comes amid ongoing fighting in eastern and southern Ukraine, as well as renewed diplomatic efforts by Western allies to maintain pressure on Russia while supporting Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction.
