COAS Visits Jos, Reassures Residents After Deadly Attack
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday led a high-level security delegation to Jos, Plateau State, to assess the security situation following the deadly attack in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North, which left 28 people dead.

According to the Nigerian Army, the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and entrench lasting peace across the state. Upon arrival, Shaibu was received by Caleb Mutfwang in what officials described as a demonstration of strong civil-military cooperation.
During the visit, Shaibu received a detailed operational briefing from Major General Folusho Oyinlola, outlining ongoing operations aimed at stabilising affected communities and safeguarding lives and property.
“We urge residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by complying with the curfew and cooperating fully with ongoing operations and investigations, while going about their lawful activities,” the army chief said.
Local officials welcomed the visit. Dachung Bagos noted that Shaibu’s presence would boost public confidence in security efforts, while councillor Ladi Dangyok described it as a source of reassurance for residents.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside sister security agencies, the Plateau State government, and key stakeholders to tackle the security challenges in the state and ensure lasting peace.
