A young man identified as Musa has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for allegedly beating his mother to death with a weapon during a heated dispute over a N40 million inheritance in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Monday night after the suspect demanded access to the funds, claiming he needed the money to travel to Canada for business purposes. His mother, identified as Nana, reportedly refused his request, expressing concerns that he might misuse the money. Sources close to the investigation revealed that the disagreement quickly escalated into violence, during which Musa allegedly attacked his mother with a weapon, resulting in her death.

In a shocking twist, the suspect was said to have remained in the house with the corpse for several days without informing authorities or relatives. He was eventually apprehended by DSS operatives after he returned home with takeaway shawarma and was seen driving his late mother’s car, which raised suspicion among neighbours and security personnel monitoring the area.

The deceased was laid to rest on Thursday following funeral prayers held at the National Mosque in Abuja. Family members and community residents have been left in shock over the tragic incident, describing the act as both horrifying and unimaginable.

As of the time of this report, security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the incident, while investigations are ongoing. The suspect remains in DSS custody as operatives continue to gather evidence and unravel the full circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
