Russian Drone Strike on Odesa Injures 18 in Overnight Attack
At least 18 people have been wounded following an overnight drone attack on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa, according to local officials.
Authorities said the strike, carried out by Russian forces, targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure, causing multiple explosions across the city. Emergency services reported that several buildings were damaged, with fires breaking out in some locations as rescue teams worked through the night to contain the aftermath.

Regional officials confirmed that among the injured were civilians, with some requiring hospital treatment for blast-related wounds and debris injuries. The attack adds to a growing pattern of nighttime aerial assaults that have intensified in recent months.
Ukraine’s military stated that air defense systems were activated during the incident, successfully intercepting a number of incoming drones, though several managed to penetrate defenses and hit their targets.

The city of Odesa, a strategic Black Sea port, has frequently been a focal point in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, particularly due to its importance for grain exports and maritime operations.
Officials condemned the attack as a violation of international law, accusing Russian forces of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. Meanwhile, emergency crews continue to assess the extent of the damage as residents begin recovery efforts.
The latest strike underscores the ongoing volatility in the region, with both sides engaged in continued military operations as the conflict shows no immediate signs of de-escalation.
