At least two people have been killed after a Russian drone strike hit a civilian bus in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, in the latest attack on public transport amid the ongoing war.

The strike occurred early on May 2, with officials confirming that a drone targeted a minibus carrying civilians in the Dniprovskyi district of the frontline city. At least seven others were injured in the attack, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Local officials said the victims included a municipal worker and a woman whose identity is still being verified. Emergency services rushed to the scene, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The city of Kherson, located near the frontlines of the war, has been subjected to frequent shelling and drone strikes since it was partially liberated by Ukrainian forces in 2022. Civilian infrastructure; including transport vehicles has repeatedly come under attack.

Ukrainian officials have accused Russian forces of deliberately targeting civilian areas, particularly using drones to strike moving vehicles. Moscow has consistently denied targeting civilians, despite mounting reports of casualties in residential zones and public spaces.

The latest incident underscores the continued vulnerability of civilians in frontline regions, where daily life is often disrupted by air raid sirens, artillery fire, and drone attacks.

As the conflict continues with no immediate resolution in sight, attacks on transport and infrastructure remain a major concern for humanitarian agencies and international observers monitoring the war.
