Peter Obi has declared that the “time to rescue Nigeria has come,” calling on citizens and political leaders to work together to rebuild the country and restore public confidence in governance.

Obi made the statement while addressing participants at the NDC Convention, where he spoke on the current state of the nation, leadership, and the need for accountable governance.

The former presidential candidate said Nigeria is facing serious economic and social challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, inflation, and rising poverty, stressing that urgent action is needed to reverse the situation.

According to him, the country’s vast human and natural resources can only be maximized through responsible leadership, transparency, and policies focused on the welfare of citizens.

“The time to rescue Nigeria has come,” Obi stated, urging Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s difficulties.

He emphasized the importance of unity, competence, and good governance, noting that national development can only be achieved when leaders prioritize service over personal interests.

Obi also encouraged young people to remain actively involved in the democratic process, saying the future of the country depends largely on citizen participation and accountability.

Political analysts say the remarks reflect Obi’s continued advocacy for reforms in governance and economic management following the 2023 general elections.

The NDC Convention attracted political stakeholders, civic groups, and participants from different sectors who discussed issues relating to democracy, national development, and leadership in Nigeria.
