Terrorists Kill Abducted Oyo Teacher as Makinde Vows Rescue of Remaining Victims
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has confirmed the killing of one of the teachers abducted during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by the abductors after terrorists released a disturbing video showing the teacher tied up before his death.

Governor Makinde disclosed the development on Sunday following a security review meeting with service commanders and security advisers over the abduction of seven teachers and several pupils from schools in Ahoro Dada community.
According to the governor, the slain victim was believed to be a Mathematics teacher among those kidnapped during the attack.
“Unfortunately, we received a video this morning indicating that one of the teachers was killed by the terrorists. Our prayers are with the family,” Makinde said.

The governor expressed condolences to the deceased teacher’s family and assured residents that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the remaining abductees.
Makinde also sympathised with members of the rescue team, including soldiers, Amotekun Corps operatives and local vigilantes, who reportedly encountered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the abductors during rescue operations.
He confirmed that some security operatives sustained injuries during the operation but said they were responding positively to treatment, adding that the state government would fully cover their medical expenses.
The governor said the government had intensified both kinetic and non-kinetic efforts to rescue the remaining victims and dismantle the criminal network behind the attack.
He disclosed that security agencies had already arrested several suspects linked to the incident.
“From the information available from the Commissioner of Police, about six individuals have been arrested within the locality. Some of them are believed to be informants or persons handling logistics for the terrorists,” Makinde stated.
He added that another security outfit in the state had arrested three additional persons of interest in connection with the abduction.
Makinde further warned that increasing military pressure on terrorists and bandits in the North-West and North-East was forcing criminal elements to migrate towards parts of the South-West.
According to him, Oyo and neighbouring states must strengthen local security responses to prevent the spread of terrorism and violent attacks into the region.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue reinforcing security around vulnerable areas, including schools, highways and communities, while promising regular updates on the rescue efforts.
