NDLEA Uncovers Underground Drug Bunkers in Kano, Dismantles Hidden Network Beneath Residential Area
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have uncovered a network of underground drug hideouts and tunnels in the Rimin Kebe area of Kano during a major raid under “Operation Sharar Mafaka.”
The shocking discovery, made during a crackdown on suspected drug syndicates, revealed human-made underground caves allegedly used for drug-related activities and as hideouts for suspected traffickers and addicts.
According to reports from the operation, NDLEA officers found that the underground structures had been partitioned into makeshift living spaces equipped with mats, pillows, food flasks, plates, and other household items, indicating that occupants were living beneath the surface for extended periods.
Authorities also discovered ongoing excavation work believed to be aimed at linking multiple underground bunkers through connecting tunnels, raising concerns over the sophistication and scale of the criminal network operating within the community.
The agency has since begun demolishing the illegal structures as part of efforts to dismantle the network and prevent the area from being reused
