Youth Quota Initiative Opens Nomination for Young State Assembly Aspirants Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Youth Quota in Parliament Advocacy Initiative has officially called on young Nigerians under the age of 35 to submit their profiles for consideration as potential sponsored candidates for State House of Assembly seats in the 2027 general elections. This follows a series of engagements with political parties across the country, some of which have reportedly expressed willingness to support and sponsor qualified young aspirants.
In a statement released for immediate release, the advocacy group said the move is part of its continued commitment to advancing youth inclusion and representation in governance. The initiative particularly encourages young women and persons with disabilities who possess competence, leadership capacity, political experience, and passion for public service to apply.
Ebere Juliet Ebenezer, Director of Programs for the Youth Quota in Parliament Advocacy, confirmed the development. She said, “Following our engagements, some political parties have expressed willingness to consider supporting and sponsoring qualified young aspirants for State House of Assembly positions ahead of the 2027 general elections. This initiative seeks to promote inclusive participation, strengthen youth representation in parliament, and encourage credible young leaders to actively participate in Nigeria’s democratic process.”
Applicants are required to provide their full name, state and constituency of interest, age, gender, phone number, email address, political or leadership experience, a short biography or profile, evidence of community engagement or public service, and their preferred political party if any.
The submission deadline is Friday, 22nd May 2026. All applications and enquiries should be sent via email to youthquotainparliament@gmail.com or through the dedicated WhatsApp number: 234 815 703 1718.
Ebere Juliet Ebenezer added that the initiative remains committed to ensuring young Nigerians are not left behind in the political process.
