Palestinians Mourn Dead After Israeli Strikes Hit Gaza on Eid
At least 10 Palestinians have been killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes carried out during the Eid celebrations, as mourning families gathered in Gaza amid intensified fighting and worsening humanitarian conditions.
According to reports from local health authorities and multiple international media outlets, the strikes hit several areas across the Gaza Strip, including residential neighborhoods and displacement zones where civilians had been sheltering. Emergency responders said women and children were among the dead, while several others were injured.
The latest violence comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his government’s intention to expand and maintain long-term security control over parts of the Gaza Strip, despite growing international calls for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian access.
Israeli officials say the military operations are aimed at dismantling Hamas infrastructure and preventing further attacks, while Palestinian authorities and humanitarian groups accuse Israel of disproportionately targeting civilian areas and worsening the humanitarian crisis.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of devastation during what was meant to be a period of religious celebration, with families burying loved ones on Eid days marked instead by air raid sirens and rescue operations.
The Gaza Health Ministry says the overall death toll continues to rise as strikes intensify across the enclave, with hospitals struggling under severe shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and electricity.
International reactions remain sharply divided, with some governments backing Israel’s security operations while others are calling for immediate de-escalation and renewed peace negotiations.
The situation remains highly volatile, with fears of further escalation as fighting continues across multiple fronts in the region.
