At least one person has been killed and several others injured following an Iranian drone and missile attack on Kuwait that struck the country’s international airport and damaged a passenger terminal, according to official statements and multiple international reports.

The attack reportedly hit Kuwait International Airport, forcing authorities to suspend operations temporarily and divert flights after significant damage was recorded at Terminal 1.

Kuwaiti civil aviation authorities said the strike caused “severe damage” to parts of the airport infrastructure, with emergency teams deployed immediately to contain the situation and secure the facility.

Air traffic was briefly suspended, while some operations were later partially restored after safety checks were carried out.

The attack comes amid a sharp escalation in tensions involving Iran and US-aligned Gulf states, with ongoing exchanges of missile and drone strikes across multiple locations in the region.

Military sources cited in reports say air defence systems intercepted some incoming projectiles, but others managed to reach civilian infrastructure, including the airport.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about the vulnerability of critical infrastructure in the Gulf, particularly airports and energy facilities, as regional hostilities continue to expand.

Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions are ongoing, but officials warn the situation remains highly volatile.
