CAN Mourns Former Aso Rock Chaplain William Okoye, Hails His Legacy of Faith and National Service
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, former Aso Rock Chaplain during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former National Director of National Issues and Social Welfare of the association.
In a statement, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, described the late cleric as a devoted servant of God whose life was marked by unwavering commitment to the Church, the nation and humanity.
According to the association, Dr. Okoye, who was the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, dedicated decades of his life to advancing the Christian faith and promoting national development through selfless service.
Beyond his pastoral ministry, Okoye served in several strategic national assignments, including as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.
He also served as Chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, where he provided spiritual leadership to the Presidency.
CAN noted that his contributions to nation-building reflected his belief that faith should play a transformative role in shaping society and promoting good governance.
The association described his death as a significant loss to the Christian community and the nation, praying that God would grant his family, the Church and all who mourn him the strength to bear the loss.
Dr. Okoye is remembered for his years of dedicated ministry, leadership and public service, leaving behind a legacy of faith, integrity and commitment to national development.
