Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has raised an urgent alarm over a mysterious and unsolicited credit alert into one of his private bank accounts.

The transaction, with the narration “Contribution Electioneering Campaign,” came from an individual completely unknown to him.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku declared that neither he nor his campaign authorised or had any knowledge of the payment.

The account involved is strictly private, and its details are not in the public domain.

Atiku questioned how unknown persons obtained his confidential banking details, warning that if the private information of a former vice president could be accessed, then no Nigerian’s financial privacy is safe.

He expressed concern that the information may have been obtained through persons with privileged access, describing this as a “grave abuse of power” that could expose account holders to kidnappers, terrorists, and fraudsters.

The former vice president has put security agencies on notice and is urging a thorough investigation into the source of the transaction.

He described the incident as part of a litany of suspicious activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite the development, Atiku insists he will not be distracted. “Such desperate antics have failed before and will fail again,” his spokesman stated. “The Waziri Adamawa remains focused on offering Nigerians credible leadership and practical solutions to the nation’s challenges.”
