Police Arrest Suspected Mastermind Over Mangu Attack That Killed 25

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a suspect allegedly linked to the attack on BI Mper village in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area, where 25 people were reportedly killed and four others injured.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, said the suspect was arrested as investigators continued to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.

Alabo, who spoke in a telephone interview with Arise News, said the police investigation was making progress and that security operatives were still pursuing other suspects believed to have participated in the assault.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect currently in custody is believed to be the mastermind of the attack.

He assured residents that the command would continue its efforts to apprehend all those involved and ensure that they face justice.

The latest arrest comes as security agencies intensify operations in Mangu and surrounding communities following the violence.

The police said efforts were ongoing to track down other individuals connected to the attack, while investigators were working to establish the full circumstances behind the killings.

The incident has renewed concerns over security in parts of Plateau State, where communities have experienced deadly attacks and recurring tensions.

Authorities have appealed for calm and urged residents to provide security agencies with credible information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
