GOVERNOR SULE WARNS OF NEW TERROR GROUP WULOWULO IN NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has disclosed that a new terror organization identified as “Wulowulo” has reportedly begun establishing its presence in parts of North-Central Nigeria, particularly in Kwara State, sparking fresh security concerns in the region. Addressing security stakeholders, Governor Sule warned that the new network—believed to be a splinter faction of Boko Haram—poses a growing threat to peace and stability in the zone. “One of the reasons why we invited you here is the fact that the situation of insecurity, especially in other parts of the country, is a big concern, and some of them are beginning to spread into our state,” the governor said. He emphasized, “It is very important that we take steps to ensure that does not happen to us.”

Governor Sule expressed particular concern over the activities of the Lakurawa group, another violent faction that has reportedly expanded from Kebbi and Sokoto States into Kwara State. “The Lakurawa group is now a big problem in Kwara. Originally, they were active around Kebbi and Sokoto, but they have now become prominent in Kwara,” he stated. “We should be concerned that it does not extend all the way to Nasarawa State.” The governor urged heightened vigilance and proactive intelligence-sharing among security agencies to prevent extremist infiltration into Nasarawa State and other parts of the North Central region.

Meanwhile, Governor Sule has ordered a full-scale investigation into the recent killings in Kokona Local Government Area, where seven people were reportedly killed in a violent clash between the Mada and Ninzom communities of Ndama village over a land dispute. He directed the Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch a comprehensive probe and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Governor Sule also decried the rising spate of abductions in Lafia and Karu LGAs, urging security agencies to intensify surveillance and adopt new strategies to combat the menace of kidnappings across the state.
