The Global Initiative Support Group (GISG) has inaugurated coordinators and canvassers across the 25 local government areas of Delta State, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and promoting community-driven development.

The inauguration, held in Ughelli, brought together stakeholders, community leaders, women and youth representatives, as well as members of the group’s diaspora chapter.

The event marked a significant step in GISG’s efforts to build a functional grassroots network spanning the length and breadth of Delta State.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the group’s leadership, the APC Chairman for Delta South Senatorial District and Delta South Coordinator of GISG, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, commended the Convener, Olorogun Festus Ahon, and the Chairman, Chief Josiah Ntekume, for building an organisation with representation across the state’s 25 local government areas and among Deltans living abroad.

Amgbaduba charged the newly inaugurated officials, who will operate at senatorial, local government, ward and unit levels, to remain committed to their duties and sustain regular engagement with their communities.

He also emphasised the need for continued investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education and workers’ welfare, describing the sectors as vital to improving the quality of life of residents.

The Convener of GISG, Olorogun Festus Ahon, said the organisation was founded by friends and associates across the world to support development initiatives and foster stronger relationships among communities in Delta State.

Ahon urged the newly inaugurated coordinators and canvassers to take the group’s activities to the grassroots, listen to the concerns of residents and promote initiatives that respond to their social and economic needs.

He said meaningful development could only be achieved through sustained engagement with the people and greater community participation.

Earlier, the Chairman of GISG, Chief Josiah Ntekume, described the inauguration as a major milestone in the effort to build a formidable and inclusive organisation across the state.

Ntekume called on members to embrace unity, teamwork and dedication, while acknowledging the contributions of supporters, particularly members of the group’s diaspora chapter.

The Global Initiative Support Group said it would continue to prioritise grassroots engagement, community participation and initiatives designed to advance sustainable development across Delta State.
