Russia-Africa Summit Ends With 146 Agreements As Moscow Deepens Ties With Continent
Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening political, economic and humanitarian ties with African countries following the conclusion of the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, where 146 agreements and memoranda were recorded.
The agreements were reached across the Media Forum, the Economic and Humanitarian Forum and the main Summit, bringing together political leaders, government officials, business representatives and other stakeholders from Russia and across Africa.
Three major documents were also adopted at the summit, outlining key areas of cooperation between Russia and African countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow remained committed to expanding its partnership with Africa, particularly in areas of trade, investment, technology, infrastructure and humanitarian cooperation.
The gathering also provided African leaders and government representatives an opportunity to push for stronger partnerships capable of addressing development challenges and promoting economic growth across the continent.
Among the prominent participants at the summit were Kenyan President William Ruto and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
However, the growing relationship between Russia and Africa is unfolding amid geopolitical tensions, Western sanctions against Moscow and increasing competition among global powers seeking stronger political and economic influence on the continent.
While the 146 agreements signal renewed commitment to Russia-Africa cooperation, attention is expected to shift to their implementation and whether the commitments will translate into concrete projects and measurable benefits for African countries.
The outcome of the Moscow summit has once again placed the spotlight on Africa’s growing strategic importance in global affairs and the continent’s efforts to build partnerships that support its development priorities.
With the summit now concluded, African and Russian stakeholders will be expected to turn the agreements and memoranda into practical initiatives capable of strengthening trade, investment and cooperation between both sides.
