Tinubu, Governors, Business Leaders Pray For Nigeria’s Peace, 2027 Elections In Saudi Arabia
Nigerian political and business leaders accompanying President Bola Tinubu on his pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia have offered prayers for peace, improved security and credible elections ahead of the 2027 general polls.
The leaders, who joined the President for the Umrah pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah, also called for collective efforts to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said tackling insecurity should not be left to government alone, urging Nigerians to contribute to efforts to restore peace and stability across the country.
He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the security situation and creating an atmosphere conducive to national development.
The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman, said Tinubu’s participation in the Umrah pilgrimage was not a new development, describing it as a longstanding part of the President’s personal spiritual practice.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, said the outcome of the forthcoming election would ultimately be determined by God.
He, however, maintained that the ruling party would continue to seek the support of Nigerians by presenting its record and making its case to voters.
Other prominent figures accompanying the President include Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri; and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu.
The delegation’s visit comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with security, national unity and electoral credibility remaining major issues in the country’s political discourse.
President Tinubu arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday and is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
