Adesina Urges Tinubu to Translate Economic Reforms Into Growth, Prosperity
Former President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has urged Nigeria to move beyond economic stabilisation and translate ongoing reforms into structural transformation, sustainable growth and prosperity.
Adesina made the call after meeting President Bola Tinubu, whom he briefed on his 10-year tenure at the continental development finance institution.
He acknowledged that the Federal Government’s economic reforms were beginning to yield results, citing improved foreign exchange availability and declining inflation.
However, he noted that prices remained high, stressing the need for policies that would deliver tangible improvements in the living conditions of Nigerians.
Adesina also disclosed that the African Development Bank provided approximately $7 billion in financing to Nigeria between 2015 and 2025.
He emphasised the importance of building on the progress recorded through economic reforms to achieve broader structural transformation and inclusive economic growth.
