President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, directing security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.

The two men were reportedly killed in a drive-by shooting by gunmen on Monday evening.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the killings as heinous and an assault on the values of peace and the sanctity of human life.

Tinubu expressed sadness over the incident and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, their followers, and the government and people of Katsina State.

He directed the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the killings.

The President also urged the agencies to strengthen the ongoing efforts of the Katsina State Police Command to identify, apprehend and bring the suspects to justice.

Tinubu prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for their families and others mourning their deaths.

The circumstances surrounding the attack and the identities of the perpetrators were not disclosed in the statement.
