Eid-el-Maulud: Shettima Urges Nigerians to Embrace Peace, Compassion and Service

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to peace, compassion, tolerance and service to humanity as Muslims across the country and beyond celebrate Eid-el-Maulud.

Shettima, in a goodwill message marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s life and teachings.

According to the Vice President, the life of Prophet Muhammad provides enduring lessons in mercy, humility, justice, patience and service to humanity.

He said the Prophet’s teachings demonstrate that true strength lies in compassion, while leadership should be anchored on fairness and responsibility towards others.

Shettima urged Nigerians to apply these principles in their daily lives, particularly at a time when the country is experiencing economic growth under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He called on citizens to strengthen the bonds that unite them, show greater concern for vulnerable members of society and reject hatred, division and intolerance.

The Vice President also described Nigeria’s religious and cultural diversity as one of the country’s greatest strengths, stressing the need to build a society where people of different faiths and backgrounds can coexist peacefully and with mutual respect.

“As we celebrate, I urge Nigerians to remember those in need and to extend kindness to our neighbours and communities,” Shettima said.

He added that the essence of Eid-el-Maulud goes beyond commemorating the Prophet’s birth, urging Muslims and other Nigerians to reflect his values through their conduct and treatment of others.

The Vice President prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in Nigeria, asking Almighty Allah to accept the prayers of the faithful and guide Nigerians on the path of righteousness.
