The Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Sulaiman Aledeh, has resigned from his position, bringing to a close his tenure at the state-owned broadcasting corporation.

Aledeh announced his resignation in a letter addressed to Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, stating that the decision takes immediate effect from May 30, 2026.

The veteran broadcaster said he was stepping down to focus on the next phase of his professional career and pursue other interests outside public service.

In his resignation letter, Aledeh expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as Managing Director of EBS as a privilege and an honour.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to Your Excellency for the confidence reposed in me and for the privilege of serving the people of Edo State in this capacity,” he stated.

Reflecting on his stewardship, Aledeh said he was proud of the progress recorded in repositioning the station amid growing competition and rapid changes in the media industry.

He also thanked the people of Edo State, both at home and in the diaspora, for their support and engagement during his tenure, noting that public broadcasting remains an important bridge between government and citizens.

The outgoing EBS boss paid tribute to the management and staff of the organisation, commending their professionalism, dedication and resilience in advancing the vision of transforming the station into a modern and credible public broadcaster.

According to him, the achievements recorded during his tenure were made possible through the collective efforts of the workforce and stakeholders committed to strengthening the institution.

“As I take my leave, I remain confident that the organisation will continue to grow from strength to strength and fulfil its vital mandate in service to the people of Edo State,” he said.

Aledeh, a respected media professional and broadcaster, did not disclose his next destination but indicated that he would be pursuing new opportunities in the next chapter of his career.

His resignation marks a significant development within the Edo State media landscape and the administration of Governor Okpebholo, under which he served as head of the state’s foremost public broadcasting institution.
