Anambra Government Confirms Arrest of Pastor Accused of Taking 75 Married Women as Wives
The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of Pastor Harrison Charles, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, following allegations that he took 75 married women from their husbands and made them his wives.
Pastor Charles was apprehended by operatives of Agunechemba after a viral video surfaced online containing several allegations against him by victims and their relatives. Some accusers also claimed that he encouraged wife-swapping among members of his congregation.

The arrest comes amid an ongoing crackdown on fake pastors in Anambra State, which recently led to the arraignment of eight clerics in court. Since then, many victims have come forward to reveal their ordeals.
Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Media, Dr Ejimofor Opara, confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post. He said the clergyman has been handed over to the police and that a joint investigation between the Anambra State Police Command and the state government has commenced.
During the arrest, security operatives made a startling discovery at the pastor’s residence. Opara disclosed that about 11 babies were found in his home.
“He claims to be the father of these eleven babies, stating they are from eleven of his wives,” Opara said. “He also claims he does not know the number of wives he has married or the total number of children he has.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Mr Ken Emeakayi, has urged anyone with additional information about the pastor’s activities to report to the state government.
The investigation is ongoing.
