Anambra Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapper ‘Fabulous’ After Recovering Stolen Vehicle From His House

A suspected kidnapper popularly known as Fabulous, who doubles as a spare parts dealer during the day, has been arrested by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command following an intense gun battle that left his gang members fleeing after running out of ammunition.

The suspect was traced and apprehended at his residence in Abommili Estate, Mgbachu, Nkpor, after police tracked a stolen vehicle belonging to one of his victims to the location. Fabulous, who reportedly operates as a motor spare parts dealer at Mgbuka Market in Obosi, is alleged to be the mastermind behind the abduction of Dr. Edwin Emegoakor, the Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital, Nkpor.

According to police sources, the operation turned into a fierce shootout when officers stormed the hideout. The gang engaged security operatives in a gun duel, but the suspects were forced to retreat when their ammunition ran out. While the other members managed to escape, Fabulous was isolated and subsequently captured by police officers.

“The suspect could not escape after a shootout that left him isolated when his gang ran out of ammo and escaped,” a security source familiar with the operation revealed.

The police had tracked the stolen vehicle of the abducted medical director to the suspect’s house, leading to the breakthrough in the case. Dr. Emegoakor, who was abducted on May 7, 2026, was later rescued by security operatives at Fabulous’ house in Nkpor.

Following the arrest, irate youths reportedly destroyed the suspect’s house in Nkpor, although community leaders have moved to clarify the exact location of the arrest to avoid damage to the reputation of neighboring communities. The President General of Obosi Development Union, Barr. Chimezie Obi, stated that the suspect was arrested in Nkpor, not Obosi as initially reported by some media outlets.

The Anambra State Police Command has continued its intensified offensive against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed during a press briefing at the Command’s Headquarters in Awka that the Command has recorded a series of major breakthroughs in its ongoing war against crime.

Fabulous is currently in police custody and is expected to assist detectives in tracking down other fleeing members of his kidnapping syndicate.
