APC Chairman Dies After Collapsing at Reconciliation Meeting in Kogi
Tragedy has struck the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State following the sudden death of the party chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon.
Solomon reportedly collapsed and died on Friday while attending a peace and reconciliation meeting at the Iyara Town Hall, headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area.
According to sources at the meeting, proceedings were ongoing when the APC chairman suddenly slumped, causing panic among party leaders and delegates.
He was reportedly given first aid before being rushed to a medical facility in neighbouring Kabba for urgent medical attention. However, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The circumstances surrounding his sudden death remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Solomon’s death has sent shockwaves across the political landscape of Kogi West, particularly as the APC intensifies efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen internal unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The incident also cast a pall over the reconciliation efforts, which were aimed at resolving internal differences and fostering greater cohesion within the party.
The Kogi State APC leadership and relevant local authorities had yet to issue an official statement confirming the death or providing further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident as of press time.
