President Bola Tinubu has overhauled the leadership of Nigeria’s security forces with the immediate appointment of new Service Chiefs, marking a significant step to strengthen the national security framework.

Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication Sunday Dare said in a statement that General Olufemi Oluyede has been named the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. The changes also include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye remains in his position.

Sunday Dare further stated that the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

The President charges the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Sunday Dare added. All appointments take effect immediately.
