Tinubu Has No Criminal Record, FBI Files Contain Sensitive Data – Reno Omokri

Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has dismissed controversies surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s records with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, insisting that there is no mystery surrounding the President’s background.

Omokri, who spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, also maintained that Tinubu has no criminal record.

According to him, the FBI maintains records on individuals, adding that the existence of such records does not in itself suggest criminality.

“The President has no criminal record. These are FBI records which everybody has. I have an FBI record. You have an FBI record,” Omokri said.

He argued that the records being demanded from the FBI could contain sensitive personal information, including biological data, which he said should not necessarily be made public.

To illustrate his point, Omokri referred to a previous controversy involving singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over a paternity allegation. He said documents containing DNA information could not be publicly released because of concerns that such information could be misused.

Omokri therefore argued that the same principle could apply to records relating to Tinubu, saying the documents may contain sensitive information such as DNA or blood-related data.

His comments come amid renewed political debate over Tinubu’s background and records as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The ambassador-designate also dismissed what he described as speculation surrounding the President, insisting that there were no hidden mysteries about Tinubu.
