Breaking: Panic in Abuja as Hotel Under Construction Collapses, Many Feared Trapped

Panic broke out in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday after a building under construction identified as Ugo West Hotel collapsed in the Jikwoyi area, trapping several persons beneath the debris.

Eyewitnesses said the structure suddenly gave way without warning, burying workers and others at the site, while sending shockwaves across the community. Residents and passersby quickly mobilised in a desperate effort to rescue those trapped.

As of the time of filing this report, the number of casualties remains unknown, with emergency responders yet to fully arrive at the scene. Local volunteers have continued rescue efforts using bare hands and makeshift tools in a race against time.

The cause of the collapse has not been determined, and authorities are yet to issue an official statement, heightening fears among families and residents.
