The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice has issued a press statement celebrating what it describes as a monumental milestone in Nigeria’s war against crime, economic sabotage, and terrorism.

The coalition, which serves as an umbrella body coordinating over 50 frontline pro-democracy, legal-accountability, and human rights non-governmental organisations across Nigeria, announced that the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, His Excellency, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has officially confirmed the successful conviction of 661 high-profile cases spanning terrorism financing, armed banditry, cyber-syndication, and economic corruption under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The coalition’s independent legal-compliance desk highly commended the Attorney-General for what it termed an unprecedented achievement in Nigeria’s judicial history.

In its statement, the coalition noted that for decades, the biggest bottleneck in Nigeria’s justice system was the deliberate, frustrating delay of high-profile criminal trials by wealthy syndicates.

However, since assuming office, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has introduced an uncompromising, clinically efficient administrative doctrine that has completely overhauled federal prosecutions.

The coalition emphasised that securing 661 convictions is not a statistical fluke but rather the direct result of a meticulous, evidence-backed approach to justice.

The group highlighted that the Attorney-General has successfully eliminated loose ends in prosecution files, enhanced inter-agency synergy between the Ministry of Justice, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and the Department of State Services, and ensured that state prosecutors are heavily insulated from political compromises.

The coalition further stated that this historic feat proves that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the rule of law is a sharp sword aimed at sanitising the nation.

The group noted with immense national pride that a significant percentage of these 661 convictions directly targeted terrorist financiers, local bandit informants, and economic saboteurs who have long destabilised the peace of rural communities and bled the national treasury.

By aggressively securing prison sentences for these individuals, the coalition declared that Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has sent a clear message to international observers and local detractors alike that Nigeria is no longer a haven for impunity.

The group asserted that this high conviction rate has successfully restored global confidence in Nigeria’s judicial infrastructure, proving that the legal system can deliver swift, world-class justice without prejudice.

As objective arbiters of truth and good governance, the coalition announced that it has passed an unconditional, unanimous vote of confidence on the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

The group praised his professional sagacity, calm demeanor, and strict adherence to constitutional principles, stating that he has completely depoliticised the Ministry of Justice and returned it to its core mandate as the ultimate shield of the common man and the defender of public interest.

While celebrating this historic judicial milestone, the coalition called upon the entire Nigerian judiciary, especially trial judges and appellate courts, to maintain this swift momentum.

The group urged all stakeholders in the administration of criminal justice to emulate the patriotic speed and transparency established by the Attorney-General.

The coalition concluded by stating that it is proud of the Attorney-General and willing to collaborate with him in convicting more terrorists in Nigeria.
