FORMER CNN NEWS ANCHOR GIVES BIRTH AT 46 AFTER IVF TREATMENT

Former CNN news anchor Isha Sesay has given birth to a baby girl at the age of 46 after undergoing IVF treatment using a sperm donor. Sesay, who is divorced and opted to become a single mother, revealed that she conceived the child through IVF after deciding to take control of her life and pursue her dream of motherhood.

In a candid account of her journey, Sesay shared that she had always envisioned a conventional life, but her path took a different turn. “If you’d told the 16-year-old me that at 46, I’d be divorced, single, and having a baby on my own, I’d have shuddered and firmly said, ‘No!'”, she said.

Sesay, who built a successful career as a journalist and worked with CNN International for 13 years, had been open about her desire to become a mother. However, her journey to motherhood was not straightforward. After a brief marriage that didn’t result in children, Sesay’s mother suffered a catastrophic stroke when Sesay was 40, leaving her focused on caregiving.

As she approached her 40s, Sesay realized that not having a child would be her greatest regret. Despite being in a relationship that didn’t work out, she decided to pursue IVF treatment using a sperm donor. “It hit me: Not having a child would be the greatest regret of my life. And with my biological clock ticking down, if I were waiting for the right man to come along before I did it, well, I might just find myself out of time,” she said.

Sesay’s decision to become a single mother by choice has inspired many, and her story highlights the importance of perseverance and following one’s heart. “I refuse to let fear, social conventions, or judgment hold me back from seeking this joy,” she said.
