God Does Not Have A Voter’s Card

A Nigerian travelled from Anambra to Benin and spent 12 hours on a journey that should have taken only a few hours because the roads were terrible.

After all that suffering, he still said: “God will change Nigeria.”

No.

God does not have a voter’s card. You do.

God did not steal the money meant for your roads. God did not abandon your hospitals. God did not destroy your schools. God did not weaken security while kidnappers turned highways into death traps.

Politicians did.

And the tragedy is that many Nigerians will still collect ₦5,000, a bag of rice or a wrapper and vote for the same people who stole billions meant to protect their lives.

Then the road kills someone.

The hospital fails your child.

Kidnappers take your family.

There is no electricity.

There are no jobs.

And you still shout, “God will help us.”

How?

When you keep helping your oppressors?

A politician comes to your village richer than the state he governed, throws crumbs at you from the wealth that should have developed your community, and you call it generosity.

It is not generosity. It is your stolen future being returned to you in pieces.

When you sell your vote, you are selling your road, your hospital, your security, your children’s education and your unborn grandchildren’s future.

Stop dying for politicians who will fly abroad when they are sick.

Stop fighting for politicians whose children do not use the schools your children attend.

Stop worshipping political parties.

Nigeria must come before APC, PDP, Labour Party or any politician.

As I wrote in The Drop of Blood and Gold, when people sell their conscience, one day they will drink from their own cup of poison.

Nigeria, wake up.

God does not have a voter’s card. You do.

And if you sell it again, do not ask heaven why the road is still broken.

You voted for the pothole.
