Gov. Lawal Vows Stronger Support for Troops as Zamfara Security Council Reviews Operations
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening support for security agencies battling banditry and other criminal activities across the state.
The governor made the pledge on Thursday while presiding over the weekly State Security Council meeting at the Government House in Gusau.
The meeting brought together heads of various security agencies operating in the state to review the security situation and explore strategies for enhancing ongoing operations.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, discussions at the meeting focused on improving security presence in volatile communities and enhancing rapid response mechanisms to emerging threats.
Lawal assured security chiefs of his administration’s readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure the effectiveness and welfare of personnel deployed to combat insecurity in Zamfara.
The governor stressed that securing lives and property remains a top priority of his administration, noting that sustained collaboration between government and security agencies is critical to restoring peace in troubled areas.
“Governor Dauda Lawal chaired the weekly security council meeting with renewed commitment to strengthening support for the troops,” the statement said.
“He assured the heads of the security agencies of his readiness to take all necessary measures to ensure the well-being of troops operating in the state.
“The meeting addressed key issues, particularly strengthening troop presence and improving rapid response during emergencies.”
Lawal further assured the security agencies that his office would remain accessible to facilitate timely interventions and address operational challenges whenever necessary.
Zamfara remains one of the states most affected by banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria’s North-West region, with security forces continuing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring normalcy.
The governor expressed optimism that ongoing cooperation among security agencies and government institutions would yield positive results in the fight against insecurity.
He reiterated his administration’s determination to support all lawful measures geared towards achieving lasting peace and stability across the state.
