Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State is finalising plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress, according to multiple sources within Government House. The anticipated move, confirmed by insiders, follows weeks of discreet negotiations involving the governor, senior ADC officials and key North-East political power brokers.

If completed, the defection would mark one of the most significant blows to the PDP in recent years, stripping the party of a prominent governor and one of its most vocal figures within the Governors’ Forum. An official announcement is expected in the coming days.

The ADC headquarters has already reacted to the looming defection. In a statement, the party described the development as a “turning point for Nigerian democracy,” signalling high expectations around its political impact.
